રાની કી વાવને ૨૦૧૪ થી યુનેસ્કોની વર્લ્ડ હેરિટેજ સાઇટ્સમાંની એક તરીકે સૂચિબદ્ધ કરવામાં આવી છે.
રાણી કી વાવ અથવા રેન્કી વાવ (‘રાણીની વાવ‘) એ ભારત રાજ્યના પાટણ શહેરમાં સ્થિત એક વાવ છે. તે સરસ્વતી નદીનાકિનારે આવેલુંછે. તેનું નિર્માણ સૌરાષ્ટ્રના ખેંગારાની પુત્રી ઉદયમતી, રાણી અને 11મી સદીના ચૌલુક્યા રાજા ભીમા પ્રથમનાજીવનસાથીને આભારીછે. 1940ના દાયકામાં તેને ફરીથી શોધી કાઢવામાં આવ્યું હતું અને 1980ના દાયકામાં ભારતીય પુરાતત્ત્વીય સર્વેક્ષણદ્વારા તેને પુનઃસ્થાપિત કરવામાં આવ્યુંહતું.
આ પ્રકારનું શ્રેષ્ઠ અને સૌથી મોટું ઉદાહરણ અને પાણીની પવિત્રતાને પ્રકાશિત કરતા ઊંધા મંદિર તરીકે ડિઝાઇન કરવામાં આવ્યું છે, આ પગલું શિલ્પપેનલો સાથે સીડીઓના સાત સ્તરોમાં વિભાજિત છે; 500થી વધુ મુખ્ય શિલ્પો અને એક હજારથી વધુ નાના લોકો ધાર્મિક, પૌરાણિક અને બિનસાંપ્રદાયિક છબીઓને જોડે છે.
તેને નંદા-પ્રકારની સાવકી વેલ તરીકે વર્ગીકૃત કરવામાં આવેછે. તે આશરે 65 મીટર (213 ફૂટ) લાંબો, 20 મીટર (66 ફૂટ) પહોળો અને 28 મીટર (92 ફૂટ) ઊંડો છે. ચોથું સ્તર સૌથી ઊંડું છે અને 23 મીટર (75 ફૂટ)ની ઊંડાઈએ 9.5 મીટર (31 ફૂટ) બાય 9.4 મીટર (31 ફૂટ) લંબચોરસ ટાંકીમાં જાય છે. પ્રવેશદ્વાર પૂર્વમાં સ્થિત છે જ્યારે કૂવો પશ્ચિમના છેડે સ્થિત છે અને તેમાં 10 મીટર (33 ફૂટ) વ્યાસ અને 30 મીટર (98 ફૂટ) ઊંડો શાફ્ટ હોય છે. [૧][૨] સાવકી કૂવાને સીડીના સાત સ્તરોમાં વહેંચવામાં આવે છે જે ઊંડા ગોળાકાર કૂવા તરફ દોરી જાય છે. એક પગથિયાવાળા કોરિડોરને થાંભલાવાળા મલ્ટિસ્ટોરી પેવેલિયન્સ સાથે નિયમિત અંતરે કમ્પાર્ટમેન્ટલ કરવામાં આવે છે. દિવાલો, સ્તંભો, સ્તંભો, કૌંસ અને બીમ કોતરણી અને સ્ક્રોલ કામથી આભૂષણિત છે. બાજુની દિવાલોમાં વિશિષ્ટતાઓ સુંદર અને નાજુક આકૃતિઓ અને શિલ્પોથી આભૂષણિત છે. સાવકી કૂવામાં 212 સ્તંભો છે
Rani ki Vav or Ranki vav (lit. ’Queen’s stepwell‘) is a stepwell situated in the town of Patan in Gujarat state of India. It is located on the banks of Saraswati river. Its construction is attributed to Udayamati, daughter of Khengara of Saurashtra, queen and spouse of the 11th-century Chaulukya king Bhima I. Silted over, it was rediscovered in 1940s and restored in 1980s by the Archaeological Survey of India.
The finest and one of the largest examples of its kind and designed as an inverted temple highlighting the sanctity of water, the stepwell is divided into seven levels of stairs with sculptural panels; more than 500 principal sculptures and over a thousand minor ones combine religious, mythological and secular imagery.
It is classified as a Nanda-type stepwell. It measures approximately 65 metres (213 ft) long, 20 metres (66 ft) wide and 28 metres (92 ft) deep. The fourth level is the deepest and leads into a rectangular tank 9.5 metres (31 ft) by 9.4 metres (31 ft), at a depth of 23 metres (75 ft). The entrance is located in the east while the well is located at the westernmost end and consists of a shaft 10 metres (33 ft) in diameter and 30 metres (98 ft) deep.[1][2] The stepwell is divided into seven levels of stairs which lead down to deep circular well. A stepped corridor is compartmentalized at regular intervals with pillared multistory pavilions. The walls, pillars, columns, brackets and beams are ornamented with carvings and scroll work. The niches in the side walls are ornamented with beautiful and delicate figures and sculptures. There are 212 pillars in the stepwell
